Southern Downs and Tenterfield make up the beautiful country featured in the ‘Ride the Great Divide’ cycling website. The terrain that makes up Allora, Warwick, Stanthorpe, Killarney and Tenterfield is so diverse it compliments any rider’s ambitions and ability. The landscape boasts of large granite boulders, bubbling creeks, and rainforests, rolling plains, eucalypt woodlands, gorges and waterfalls; all under huge blue skies. The routes also pass through paddocks of fresh produce, waving sunflowers, wineries, breweries, autumn trees, and loads of local culture and history.

‘Ride the Great Divide’ territory is located on the Queensland and New South Wales Border atop the Great Dividing Range and is only a 2-3 hour drive from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. To the south is the New England Tableland with a XX drive from Armidale and Grafton. This area is loaded with mountain biking opportunities for every level of rider. While the Stanthorpe area boasts kilometres of low usage sealed roads of all degrees of difficulty, this area allows for the family ride as well as some very challenging hills and inclines. Around the Allora – Warwick area is more open plains with good roads for those who like to do lots of kilometres, in the east is the Killarney area with very challenging road cycling and some great mountain trails amongst the rainforest and creeks.
